On View in The Distillery Gallery: Chroma

On view: October 25 – November 30, 2024

Opening reception: Friday October 25, 6 - 9pm

Chroma is a new group exhibition that saturates the senses with an exploration of color. Adria Arch, Meg Hahn, Vanessa Irzyk, Tim McCool, and Jimmy Viera create work in a wide variety of mediums and materials, but they share one thing in common: an intense curiosity about the ways color can influence your mood and evoke an atmosphere.

Playful sculptures from Arch hang and twirl throughout the space like colorful acrobats. Irzyk provides cut out, wall-hanging optical illusions in a riot of colors ranging from neon to neutral. Viera’s colored pencil pieces are bright and bold, forming shape and color connections with Arch and Irzyk’s visual vocabularies. On the other end of the spectrum, Hahn’s dark and moody compositions, alongside McCool’s suburban nighttime landscapes, evoke hazy and dreamlike atmospheres.

The work in this exhibition invites the viewer to step into a multitude of worlds: to wander through a psychedelic forest, to sleepwalk around a half-recognized neighborhood, or to enter a vaporwave daydream. With Chroma, no corner of the color wheel is left unexplored.
